101029 Harley Davidson LR-64 Rocket Engine[edit]
The LR-64 engine was designed by Rocketdyne and is powered by Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and Hydrazine-Red Fuming Nitric Acid (RFNA) which produced well over 600 pounds of thrust. Harley Davidson struck some kind of deal and ended up with the production rights. From the early '60s till the late '90s, Harley's York, Pennsylvania plant produced over 5,000 LR-64 rocket engines, which the U.S. Navy used in their AQM-37 Jayhawk Supersonic Target Drones. With dimensions of only 21" x 10" x 5" ...Just look at this thing! Don't be tempted to strap this onto your Big Twin though.. Besides sourcing fuel, you would have a few serious problems to overcome. The LR-64 engine is constructed almost entirely of stainless steel in order to protect it from its own highly corrosive combustion process and exhaust fumes. Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and Hydrazine-Red Fuming Nitric Acid reaction type stuff. Don't breathe that.
Pro Tip
| "You'll shoot yer eye out kid! Don't be anywhere near the exhaust fumes if you enjoy having skin."
